The Dreamer Awakes

Welcome to The Dreamer Awakes

We are highly skilled and experienced artists, musicians, and storytellers. Each of our practitioners are renowned for their ability to empower participants whilst breaking down barriers. We bring unique methods of engaging with the community, tackling sensitive issues, managing difficult problems and producing innovative and high-quality art installations, and performances bringing art and culture to theatres, commuity spaces and to the streets.

WORKSHOPS

ART INSTALLATIONS

Our aim is to support organisations and communities to think outside of the box, seeking a common ground for magic, playfulness and exploration. By establishing common goals, equal status, intergroup cooperation and personal interaction, together we create art installations that bring communities together.

STORYTELLING

Storytelling is a powerful tool to address complex and difficult issues. Life-stories, fairytales, myths and legends are woven into every aspect of the work we do. Performance storytelling creates a rich and sociable event in a limitless variety of spaces, a shared experience to spur the imagination. Through storytelling we find a deeper understanding of each other, our pasts and ourselves.

In times of flux and transition, humour and playfulness can bring the community together in a common understanding, reframing difficult issues, creating flow, and offering up alternative perceptions.

MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE

Musicality runs through everything we do, whether it's running workshops or developing arts projects. Musical performance is a means to empower individuals, communities and organisations.

"A surprise. [the workshops] gave me permission to fail…It gave me confidence, being  with people of my own age. Realized - if I can drum I can do other things, like day trips. The group were supportive, no one put anyone down, I’m quite reserved, don’t open up that much, I was surprised that I was able to take part in the group… I loved playing the drum, my worries disappeared, release you from worries, the beat knocks out the worries. Fantasy that I’ll find some place to drum."
